Better description pending--maybe. It's 5:22 in the morning and I'm still too caffeine-jittery to compose a worthwhile thought. Wish I'd given myself more time to finish this before the contest deadline.
It looks so soft and fragile, the way you put in those peachy tones are brilliant. I love how you made it look so thin. The skin looks similar to that of a baby's: fragile, soft, inviting... The black background makes it look lonely, and lost. I feel as though this creature would be one to live in the deep depths of the ocean, far below sea level. Most likely in the trenches of the sea. It makes me feel depressed and hopeless, but not totally hopeless. Like there's a light somewhere that could spark something. The arms and leg positioning is perfect. It makes it seem like a baby, slightly crunched up and vulnerable, yet I couldn't see anything hurting it. Almost as though it was immortal or like nothing could find it. Looks as though this little creature has reached equilibrium with the Earth and is sitting at the bottom of the ocean peacefully waiting for the Earth to end, which, judging by it's form, should be in about 150 years.
I cannot take my eyes off of this piece. It is so incredible. It makes me feel as though this is what life will be like in the end.
Interesting, and kinda cute. And I think I understand why some would say creepy - it did have some resemblance (the tiny lil' arms and legs) to a human. Best part, this totally looks like a photograph of something real, instead of a painting/drawing.
Gratz on winning, but what were the creatures that you combined here? I see... Fetus and stingray lol. I also like the thought of it being nascent; makes me wonder what it could become over time, just as Dren changed so much over time.
